In 1944 the United States filed a petition for the condemnation of the year-to-year use for an indefinite period of 26,699 acres of land in the coastal area of Georgia, of which 9,000 acres were owned by the Georgia Timber Company and leased to the Appellees, as a part of a larger tract of 18,000 acres, for the total annual rental of $750.
