This is an action under the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C.A. § 688, to recover for the wrongful death of James J. Casey, deceased. He lost his life on January 13, 1945 in a fire aboard the S.S. Morris Sigman, on which he was employed as master. The vessel was owned by the United States and was operated by the defendant, American Export Lines, Inc., as general agent under the standard form of War Shipping Administration Agency agreement.
