In July 1944, Jackie Roberts, then 14 years of age, was employed by respondent DeKalb Agricultural Association, Inc., to detassel ears of corn and pull out suckers. One morning, some days prior to August 4, a number of boys, including Roberts, worked in a horizontal line along the rows of corn. He lagged behind.
