On October 24, 1947, just before midnight, George Douglas Lewis, while driving his automobile in a westerly direction on the right-hand side of the center line of U. S. Highway No. 64, in McNairy County, Tennessee, crashed into a truck owned by George E. Tidwell and received injuries from which he died shortly thereafter.
