Each of the plaintiffs brought an action to recover damages for personal injuries which she received when struck by an automobile while she was crossing Montcalm Avenue in the city of Plattsburgh. Montcalm Avenue runs north and south. The plaintiffs, who are twelve and fourteen years of age respectively, were crossing the street from east to west, and as they had almost reached the westerly curb they were struck by an automobile going north.
