The respondent operates a large department store in St. Louis, Missouri, known as Famous-Barr. On July 7, 1945, the respondent discharged Marie Lee, an elevator operator who had been in its employ for 16 years. The reasons given for her discharge were insubordination, disobedience, and repeatedly violating store rules. Marie Lee was an organizer for Elevator Operators and Starters, Local 50E, affiliated with Building Service Employees International...
