On the night of September 6, 1944, William Colclasure, a boy nineteen years of age, was driving his family's automobile along U. S. Highway No. 80, a two-lane paved highway, in Webster Parish, Louisiana. Riding with him as his invited guests were James Lee Cheshire and Billy Jack Stanfield, both sixteen years of age.
