On January 1, 1940, the plaintiff, Gordie M. Herren, and Southwest Joint Stock Land Bank, as lessors, entered into an agreement with the Ashley Homestead Association, Inc., as lessee, and the United States of America, acting by and through the Secretary of Agriculture, and designated in the agreement as the Government, by the terms of which written agreement a certain farm owned by plaintiff was leased to the lessee for a period of five years...
