On December 30, 1931, an association known as the Joseph A. Holpuch Company entered into a contract with defendant to construct a hospital building and nurses' quarters at the Veterans' Administration Home at Leavenworth, Kansas. The work was to be commenced within 15 calendar days after receipt of notice to proceed and was to be completed within 300 calendar days thereafter.
