Long before she was imprisoned and the present action was begun, plaintiff had brought suit for seduction and breach of promise against one Dienst, a police lieutenant of Mount Vernon, a city in Westchester County, New York, in which she had charged among other things, that, to procure his promotion from the position of policeman to police lieutenant, she had given him $1,000 to bribe an unknown official of Mount Vernon.
