William M. Wellman, appellant, was indicted in North Carolina, May 20, 1941, for the crime of rape. Shortly thereafter he was arrested in the District of Columbia on the requisition of the Governor of North Carolina. There was a hearing, and a rendition warrant issued committing him to the custody of appellee, Sheriff of Iredell County, North Carolina.
