On May 7, 1936, Elmer Bentley Pickens and others entered and robbed the Farmers & Merchants Bank at Waterloo, Alabama, and, in avoiding or attempting to avoid apprehension for the commission of the offense, kidnapped the president of the bank and forced him to accompany them to a point several miles distant from the bank. For such unlawful conduct an indictment in four counts was returned against Pickens and his confederates charging them...
