On March 22, 1940, a lighter belonging to the Baltimore Towage & Lighterage Company, capsized in the Baltimore Harbor, with a cargo of 168 bales of burlap. 161 bales of this burlap belonged to Ralli Brothers (of New York), Inc., and the remaining 7 bales were the property of Stein Hall & Co. Inc. The lighter was raised and a part of the burlap was salvaged. The damage to Ralli Brothers was $15,363.28, and to Stein Hall & Co., ...
