The relator Vassiliades arrived in the United States from Patras, Greece, on December 20, 1929, as a member of a crew of the S.S. Exmoor of the American Export Line. He was thereupon paid off and discharged and remained in this country continuously thereafter. In 1932 he was arrested by the immigration authorities and held in custody on the charge that he had remained in the United States longer than the sixty days allowed by the Immigration...
