This involves the ownership of certain sugar cane roots, or "ratoons," and crops of sugar cane harvested from them in 1933 and succeeding years. The facts are not in dispute. The appellees, whom we shall refer to as the plaintiffs, own certain agricultural land in Puerto Rico. On May 6, 1928, they leased it by a duly recorded public instrument to Garzot & Fuertes, Inc., for ten years; rent was payable quarterly in advance, and the lessee...
