This is a suit in the nature of an action at law brought by the South Porto Rico Sugar Company against Rafael Sancho Bonet, Treasurer of Puerto Rico, to recover the sum of $36,714.62, the same being the amount of income taxes for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1919, and claimed to have been illegally assessed against the plaintiff and paid under protest.
