Appellant sues to recover the value of 70 million barrels of oil taken between 1910 and 1919 from oil lands known as lot 165, Chinampa, in the canton of Tuxpan, state of Vera Cruz, Mexico.

Mrs. Cruz, a Mexican, owned the land in question. October 21, 1901, her son Adolfo Merinos, appearing as her unofficial representative, contracted with one Julvecourt to lease lot 165 for ten years, with an option of renewal for ten more years. Three...
