Appellants were convicted by a jury and each sentenced to ten years' imprisonment (the extreme penalty) for violation of section 121, title 18, U. S. C. (18 USCA § 121),1 in assaulting, resisting, etc., an officer of the United States in the discharge of his duties prescribed by the revenue laws of the United States. The six counts of the indictment whereof they were convicted charged in varying language...
