Wallace Dann, now deceased, but whom we shall hereafter speak of as appellee, was an engineer, and in the latter part of 1930 was seeking employment. To that end he obtained a letter of introduction to the vice president of appellant (a gas company), and was referred to appellant's chief engineer, named Russell.
