The subject-matter of this litigation is five Liberty bonds of $1,000 each. George A. Howerton purchased them with his own money in 1923. The purchase was made in the usual manner. Howerton's wife died in 1924. Appellant attended her during the last months of her illness and was paid for the service. The two women were sisters. Following the death of his wife and until 1929, Howerton spent much of his time in the home of appellant in Kansas...
