On April 24, 1929, Meyer Friedman sustained substantial injuries claimed to be due to the negligence of United States Trucking Company. At that time he owed $500 to the petitioner, Benjamin Jonas. The latter ascertained that Friedman was in the hospital (where he remained several months) receiving treatment for his injuries.
