In 1922, the petitioner, through an agent, made a lease of its property for a period of fifty years, beginning in 1925, at a stipulated annual rental, which increased with each successive five year period. As compensation for services in negotiating the lease, petitioner agreed to pay the agent a total commission of $21,118.67, and, in accordance with the agreement, made payments to the agent as follows: $1,118.67 in 1922, $10,000 in 1923, and...
