This libel against the schooner Helen Barnet Gring is based upon a claim for cargo damage. The schooner is a vessel 202 feet in length by 40 feet beam, and was engaged to carry some 1,800 tons of fertilizer from Baltimore to Searsport, Me. The contract was covered by a general charter party for sailing vessels, under which the Gring was tendered to the Davison Chemical Company, the libelant, in the early part of February, 1929.
