This is an appeal by a trustee in bankruptcy from a judgment and decree entered on March 10, 1927, by the District Court of the United States for the District of South Dakota, holding valid certain mortgages to the amount of $39,500, given by one Ewert, subsequently adjudged a bankrupt, to his attorneys (appellees) as security for a promised fee of $25,000. The matter had been heard before a referee, who rendered a decision allowing compensation...
