On December 15, 1925, the ferryboat Cranford left her slip at Liberty street, New York, at 5 p. m., bound for Communipaw, N. J. The evening was clear, but growing dark, although the outline of vessels and the opposite shore could be seen. When she left her slip, a tug with a car float, going up the river close to the New York shore, required her to stop.
