The plaintiff in this suit sued for infringement of patent No. 1,000,293, granted August 8, 1911, for a packing for piston rods. It is used in steam engines at a point where the piston rod comes out of the engine cylinder in order to prevent the steam under pressure from leaking near the piston rod, or in machinery receiving fluids under pressure. It maintains a fluidtight condition, and avoids undue friction on the piston as it reciprocates...
