This case calls for a construction of a penal statute of the Virgin Islands.

Braffith was charged with murder in the first degree. When arraigned, he pleaded guilty. The learned trial judge before accepting this unusual plea acquainted him with its meaning and consequences. He expressed full understanding and stated that he had nothing to say why sentence should not be imposed. The judge accepted the plea but before pronouncing sentence...
