On the 18th of August, 1927, Harold Reed, then 14 years 8 months old, was arraigned in the police court of the District of Columbia on a charge of housebreaking and pleaded "not guilty." The court held Reed to await the action of the grand jury and fixed his bail bond at the sum of $500.
