This is a suit in admiralty in personam against the United States under the Act of March 9, 1920 (Comp. St. §§ 1251¼-1251¼l). The United States Mail Steamship Company was originally joined as a respondent, but its insolvency has eliminated it as a factor in the situation. For convenience it will be spoken of hereafter as the steamship company.
