On September 19, 1918, the steamships Nitonian, owned by the Frederick Leyland Company, Inc., and the Norman Bridge, owned by the Pan-American Petroleum & Transport Company, under requisition by the United States and chartered to the United States Shipping Board, were in a convoy of vessels about 900 miles east of New York and on a voyage to the United Kingdom. Each vessel was damaged by reason of a collision, and the owners filed libels...
