The plaintiffs were the owners of three patents and one application for an invention touching automatic railway control. On October 3, 1921, they made a contract with the defendants, who were manufacturers of such apparatus, by which on certain conditions the defendants should become exclusive licensees during the life of the patents in question and any improvements made upon the same.
