It is undoubtedly true that Camden's bid of one hundred and seventy-three thousand and fifty dollars was, in legal effect, only an offer to take property at that price; and that the acceptance or rejection of that offer was within the sound equitable discretion of the court, to be exercised with due regard to the special circumstances of the case...
