The propeller Comet and the steamboat Manitoba came into collision between 8 and 9 o'clock in the evening of the 26th of August, 1875, on the waters of Lake Superior, about six or seven miles to the southward and eastward from Whitefish Point, on the south shore of that lake, the Comet being bound from Grand Island, in Lake Superior, to Cleveland, Ohio, and the Manitoba being on a voyage from Sarnia, Ontario...
