This is an appeal under § 5 of the act of March 3, 1875, 18 Stat. 470, ch. 137, from an order of the Circuit Court remanding a case which had been removed from a State court. The facts are these:

On the 10th of May, 1881, Peter R. Carll, a citizen of Connecticut, gave his three notes to Alvred E. Winchell for $10,000, $6000 and $5000 respectively, all payable five years from that date, with interest...
