In this case, a buyer bought a new boat from a dealer. The buyer alleged that the boat was defective. The buyer sued the dealer, its sales representative, and the boat's manufacturer. A visiting judge presided over a trial of the case, and a jury returned a verdict in favor of the buyer. The defendants moved for a new trial. The district judge granted the defendants' motion for new trial based on the buyer's discovery violation...
