After jury selection, the defendant and the state reached a plea agreement with a 10-year sentence cap. However, the trial court rejected the agreement. The defendant conferred with his attorney and decided to plead guilty as charged to three offenses, including possession with intent to distribute MDMA (Ecstasy) (Count One), contrary to La. R.S. 40:966(A)(1); conspiracy to distribute MDMA (Ecstasy) (Count Two), contrary to La. R.S. 40:979 and 40:966; and...
