On August 4, 2009, Rene Salazar ("Salazar") was indicted by a Texas grand jury on two counts of assault on a federal officer, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 111, and one count of possession of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(1)(A)(iii). Following a jury trial, Salazar was found guilty of all three counts. The district court sentenced Salazar to seventy-eight months...
