Defendant James Edward Duff, Jr., was convicted of assault on a child committed with force likely to cause great bodily injury resulting in death and of second degree murder. A sentence of 25 years to life in prison was imposed for the conviction of assault on a child resulting in death. A sentence of 15 years to life in prison was imposed for the second-degree-murder conviction. Execution of sentence for the murder conviction was stayed...
