In a 2008 bench trial, appellant Leroy Stevenson was found guilty of rape. He was sentenced as a habitual offender to 600 months' imprisonment. After trial, appellant filed a motion for new trial alleging that he had not been afforded effective assistance of counsel. The motion was denied.
