Darnell Ellis was convicted of possessing in excess of 500 grams of cocaine and was sentenced to 70 months' imprisonment. The drugs were discovered by DEA agents and local police officers during a search of Ellis's home. Ellis did not consent to the search and the agents and officers did not have a warrant when they entered the home.
