GOLDEN, Justice.

[¶ 1] This personal injury case arises out of Marvin Parrish's trip and fall on a stairway at a construction site where he was working as an electrician. As a result of the fall, Mr. Parrish allegedly sustained an injury to his left knee. Mr. Parrish and his wife, Bernadette, sued the general contractor (Groathouse Construction, Inc.) and a subcontractor (Advanced Wall Systems), making several claims, including negligence and loss of consortium...
