The defendant, Ardis Taft Allen, III, was convicted of attempted armed robbery, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:27 and 14:64, and two counts of aggravated battery, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:34. He was sentenced to serve 35 years at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for the attempted armed robbery conviction and 10 years at hard labor for each of the aggravated battery convictions.
