We have before us a criminal appeal filed by the defendant and a writ for supervisory review filed by the state. William Alexander Gourdine was convicted of vehicular homicide after voluntarily waiving his right to a jury trial. The trial court sentenced Gourdine to eight years at hard labor, suspending seven years of the sentence, and ordering that one year be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension...
