Appellant Lionel Lee Washington was convicted of ten counts of criminal sexual conduct for sexually abusing his girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter, M.D. In affirming the conviction, the court of appeals held that evidence of a sexual assault that Washington had committed against a 15-year-old girl more than 16 years earlier was properly admitted as Spreigl evidence to prove a common modus operandi.
