On September 24, 2002, C.L.Y. was adjudicated delinquent on the underlying charge of first-degree sexual abuse, a violation of § 13A-6-66(a)(1), Ala.Code 1975. The juvenile court ordered C.L.Y. committed to the custody of the Department of Youth Services. C.L.Y. appealed the adjudication of delinquency.
