In January 2003, Defendant, Louis D. Hargrove, III, was convicted of armed robbery, aggravated second-degree battery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. After the court imposed a sentence of 50 years for the armed robbery, the prosecution filed a habitual offender bill alleging that Defendant had a 1998 conviction for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and a 2002 conviction for simple robbery.
