A jury found the defendant, Elon Coleman, guilty of armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-1(a), 18-2(a) (West 2002)) and aggravated vehicular hijacking (720 ILCS 5/18-3(a), 18-4(a)(3) (West 2002)). The trial judge then vacated the hijacking conviction and sentenced the defendant to 10 years' imprisonment for armed robbery.
