Plaintiff-appellant Pamela Johnson brought suit against her former employer, LaRabida Children's hospital in Chicago, Illinois, alleging that her civil rights had been violated, pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983, when she was struck in the head by security guard Tommy Stephens while attempting to gain access to the facility.
