On March 13, 2002, a Mobile County jury convicted Hayden Jerome Jackson of first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation of Ala.Code 1975, § 13A-12-213(a)(1).1 The trial court sentenced him, as a habitual offender, to 15 years in prison.
