In late 1997, defendant assisted Peter Morat in setting up a business known as Herkimer Precut, Inc. Defendant acted as a consultant for Herkimer Precut and he was eventually supposed to receive a 20% interest in the company once it met certain financial obligations. Morat entrusted the company's checkbook to defendant. Defendant was not authorized to sign checks, but Morat would frequently endorse blank checks that defendant was supposed to use to pay...
